15 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row | |
Monday. 15th [February 1897]. Nelly & I tried to paint from the model but it was so foggy & dark that we could not get on– Monty Alderson turned up to luncheon on his way to see his Dr as he has lost his voice. Nelly & I drove to Bolton Studios to see Mr Vigor’s pictures– He has a picture of Enoch Arden wh he is in hopes may get into the Academy this year– I fear it will not have a success. He seems disheartened & says this will be his last effort! Nelly left the carriage at Stanhope Gate & I went on shopping & home to tea at 5– Miss Oswell came & we worked at the MS. Lady Gregory came to dinner. Nelly & Miss O. also dined. Lady G. went on with the work with Miss O. as I was tired. | |
