17 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 17th [February 1897]. Painted all morning & had a lesson from Mr Vigor. Blanche Dun: came in to luncheon– I drove out alone—went to see if Maria would accompany me– The girls said she had walked to Marshall & Snelgrove’s so I went in pursuit of her & met her in the street near Vere St & she got in to the carriage & accompanied me. I went to a lady’s Club in Lr Grosvenor St to call on Mrs Digby Collins who is crippled with rheumatism. She is a great friend of Theo’s. Went to see Nurse Watson & had a long talk with her about her prospects. She wants me to lend her money to set up a private hospital. Home to tea. Mr Burton being also invited to dine at 17 Cav. Sqr I called for him in the carriage & conveyed him there. Edward was dining out & there was only Blanche & the 2 girls at home–
