18 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 18th [February 1897]. Painted all morning. Lovely day with sunshine. After lunch Nelly & I drove in open carriage. Went to a shop in Holborn to buy cheap silks. Nellie left me in Regent St & walked home. I went on to see Mrs Holmes White & found her at home. Mr J. Fraser & Mr Wyld came to tea & Connie looked in also for a short time. I went to dine with Blanche Lady Lindsay & met Mr & Mrs Lilley—Mr C. Hallé & Mr Henry James– Had some pleasant talk with the latter– He however seemed to be much changed & aged.
