3 March 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 3rd March [1897]. It was a blowing showery day. I went to service at the Chapel Royal St James & heard the Bishop of London (Creighton) preach– He gave an excellent discourse on the use of Lent—recommending one to put aside the hurry & rush of the world for at least 6 weeks—& to ask ourselves “Where is our treasure,” & so find out where ones heart is. It poured & snowed & blew hard as I walked home– Nela & Nellie had painted & lunched with me & Nela drove with me. It cleared up & was fine but cold this afternoon. I called on Lady FitzGerald & she was at home & I admired her pretty house in Cadogan Gardens. Home to tea. Mr Wyld came to tea & later Ola & Isabel Du Cane. I dined alone & went to bed very early.
