22 April 1897 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Thursday. 22nd [April 1897]. Today I have been absolutely voiceless all day & remained in bed till after lunch; visited at intervals by the family & read to by Irène. I got up in the afternoon & sat in Blanche’s boudoir till dinner time when I joined the family. Mr Kean & Mr Fenton (the curate) dined. We had a nigger rehearsal in the evening & many songs. Lovely day at last–
