13 July 1897 — Bere Cottage, Bere Regis, Dorset
Tuesday. 13th [July 1897]. Carved—worked & talked. Maria told me she wished to return home tomorrow. I am sorry but thought it would only worry her to oppose her. She said she now recognises the fact that she ought not to live in London. We dined at 7 & then Ruth & I drove to Chamb: bridge & fished & I caught a trout 1½ lb. We got home at 10. Played patience. Had tea & went to bed.
