31 July 1897 — Bere Cottage, Bere Regis, Dorset | |
Saturday. 31st [July 1897]. A tremendously hot day. Painted Mrs Lug in the morning—& arranged that she should make me some specimen silk buttons. After tea went to fish in the Doctor’s Hatch & tho’ the fish were rising caught none & ended by breaking the rod Arthur had lent me. I went to see him & Lady Margaret at Cobbs—& they had not got anything either. | |
