7 August 1897 — Bere Cottage, Bere Regis, Dorset
Saturday. 7th [August 1897]. I left Bere by 12 o’cl & now have recommenced my wanderings– It is a great effort to me. I went by 1.24 train from Wareham to Vauxhall & drove to Victoria Station & came down to Dorking by the 5.20 train. The trains were so late on that line that I reached Dorking only a few minutes before the later train was due wh I had intended coming by. Found the Bishop of Gibraltar & Mrs Sandford staying at Milton Court with the Rates– Also Mrs Pelham Burne, Mr & Mrs Erskine (daughter) & a Mr Wilkinson.
