10 August 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 10th [August 1897]. Lady Margaret & I breakfasted at 9 & then went our various ways—mine took me to Dr Chamberlain who worked again & finished the job so that I was glad to think I had got so well rid of my dentist. I went to Cork St to see Mr & Mrs Curtis of Venice who are passing thro’ town– Then went on shopping. Gradually my teeth began to ache & by lunch time I was in great pain. Miss Oswell came in & I could hardly talk to her—so I rushed back to Gros: St to Dr Chamberlain & he had to undo some of his work & so relieved my suffering. I went off to Victoria Station & returned to Dorking by 4.5 train getting there soon after 5. Had tea in my room & rested– The Rates had also been away for a night. Mrs R. returned abt 6—Mr Rate did not return.
