29 August 1897 — Salce, Belluno
Sunday. 29th [August 1897]. Breakfast brought to my room at 7. Wrote letters & dressed abt 10. Then sat on the terrace till lunch 11.30. Afterwards wrote again till abt 3 when a thunderstorm came up. Tea at 4 & went for a walk at 5 with mine hosts. Mr Eden only went a little part of the way. Carry & I went to a farm where she wanted to make a call. The lady was out—so she deposited her card & we climbed back to Salce by a different route with lovely views at every turn—& got in at 6.30. It was a lovely evening but damp after the rain. Dinner at 7.30 & then sat in the hall till bed time at 10.
