Tuesday. 14th [September 1897]. Very heavy scirocco & dull & stormy all day. I did not go out at all. Lady Vivian arrived by the 6.45 from Milan to stay with me. She is on her way to Rome to visit her husband’s grave– Very pleasant woman—pretty & elegant—& very friendly. | |
