Friday. 8th [October 1897]. Wrote in morning. Francie & Nela drew with the master down in the hall the view out of our front door while I took Fred out in gondola to Rietti’s shop & Piazza & then on to leave a note on Signor Castellani whose brother had died yesterday at 12.30 just as Sr Castellani was calling on me. He died in the steamer on the Canal. Mme le Maillet the French Consul’s wife came to tea– | |
