11 October 1897 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 11th [October 1897]. Wrote letters– Paid bills & settled with the outgoing servants. After lunch Francie & Nela went out in gondola sketching with the master. I & Fred went out in sandolo to the Piazza & walked on the Riva. The 2 servants left at 11.30. Mr Woods called just before dinner. I went to the kitchen before going to bed to talk to Kate the kitchenmaid & found she wd undertake to cook alone & saw she had things to begin with & settled what more Pasquale & she [should] buy in tomorrow’s market. | |
