14 October 1897 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 14th [October 1897]. My kitchen arrangements are far better than I could have expected. Kate really is rather a good cook. I make the list in the evening of what Pasquale is to bring from the next morning’s market & Kate manages to cook for us without help & is not overworked. Wrote letters & began typewriting today. Copied part of a Spanish paper from Henry’s memoirs. Nela went off to Mestre to bycicle with Mrs Eden after lunch. I remained at home to wait for a visit from Countess Pasolini who came & stayed a long time. Nela & Mrs Eden returned to tea abt 5.30. Practised zither before dinner. Besique & patience in evening with Nela.
