30 January 1898 — 17 Cavendish Square
Sunday. 30th [January 1898]. Morning. I went off directly after breakfast to Half Moon St & found the improvement maintained altho’ he is still very ill & not out of danger. I sat with Nellie all the morning & went back there again after lunch. A friend of Arthur’s Mrs Jerico came to see about him & stopped to tea. She had been much with him during the first part of his illness before the operation– No one but Dr & nurses saw him today. I went back to dine at Cav. Sqr & went down again to meet the Dr afterwards & then went back to Cav. Sqr to bed– In the afternoon I went up to Park Crescent to see my sister Maria—found her very shaky & agitated & looking very white. Nela was in bed with a bad cold. Mildred Mansel was at ½ Moon St this morng & we came back to Cav. Sqr to lunch together.
