9 February 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 9th February [1898]. Mildred Mansel had written to say she wanted to come to see me so I appointed for her to come in the morning. She came & said she was so anxious to see her father who has not been yet able to see her—& wanted me to arrange it. In the meanwhile Rhuvon had arranged for her to see him this morning so she went on from here to Half Moon St. The Drs have insisted on Arthur’s being kept perfectly quiet—so every one but Rhuvon has been kept away—tho’ all have wished he could see poor Mildred. Nela came to lunch with me– My sister Blanche looked in to ask if I wd like to drive with her & so she fetched me at 3 & at 4 left me at Half Moon St. I found Mr Burcham there. He had seen Arthur & had got him to sign a paper that was required. I waited for a little—as Nelly was out & then went home to tea– I found a note from Nelly to say Arthur wished to see me so I walked back to Half Moon St. He was then too tired—so I sat & talked to Nelly & Rhuvon– The latter is very clever & interested in Eastern lore. I walked home at 9. Nelly joined me at dinner.
