22 February 1898 — Bere Cottage, Bere Regis, Dorset | |
Tuesday. 22nd [February 1898]. The ground has 15 in. of snow this morning. The postman got here with difficulty at 9.30 instead of 7 & had had to take a very circuitous route. It continued to snow hard till 4 P.M. by wh time we had 2 ft of snow. The trees were terribly broken about. I could not move out. Mrs Farrer kindly invited us to lunch but we had to give up the attempt to get across the road to the Rectory. Later she came to see me. | |
