3 March 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 3rd [March 1898]. Wrote letters &c. At 12 walked to Hertford Street to ask Adeline Bedford about letting her house to Theodora for the season. It seems to me it is too small & too dear. She asks 1000 guineas for the season. I walked on thence to Cadogan Square & lunch with Lady Vivian & then drove with her. She took me to call on Mrs Christian Eliot Constance’s daughter in law who has a very prettily furnished house on Sloane St. There I met Mrs Tom Bruce whose husband now dead, was such a friend of Henry’s & I had not seen her for some time. It was a bitter cold day & there were showers of sleet– I returned home at 5.
