30 April 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 30th April [1898]. Went out in the morning to buy a sprig of orange blossoms & left it at Wimborne House with a note to Elaine to ask her to wear it at her wedding. Lunched at 1. Eda dressed in her bridesmaid’s dress, white with a little blue & a large blue hat with white feathers. A bouquet of 2 large Malmaison pink carnations pinned on the boddice. As soon as she was dressed & had gone off to St George’s Hanover Sqr to the wedding I walked up to see Arthur. He did not seem very bright & I did not remain long with him. Nellie & I took a walk together & met the carriage with the wedding guests returning from the church. I went home & Nellie returned to Half Moon St. Blanche came to see me with her 2 girls one of whom was also a bridesmaid. Then a little before 5 Eda returned with Nela Du Cane. Eda & Onie had large bunches of white Madonna lilies in their hands—the long stalks tied up with a white satin bow. It made a very pretty bouquet. Hallam Murray & Louis Du Cane came in & then we set off for Park Crescent to have tea with Maria. Hallam & I went in a hansom. Maria was very shaky & agitated by all the excitement around her. I walked home with Eda & she dressed & went to the Play with Nela & Louis Du Cane. Nellie & I dined together. She agreed with me that Arthur did not seem so well today & said he was less well this evening seeming weak.
