6 May 1898 — 3 Savile Row | |
Friday. 6th [May 1898]. Eda left by 11.45 train to return to Lutterworth & I am alone again. I ran out to buy material to start some work for the Garry Hill Indy & returned home & got it ready so that I took it there with me when I went out. I went first to Half Moon St. Found Arthur was a good deal better– He said he had been thinking over the offer I had made thro’ Mr Bond to have him moved to 3 Savile Row & he had made up his mind to accept it & would tell Bond so this evening. I told him how pleased I was & hoped it wd help to restore his failing appetite. The nurse is also pleased—& I am relieved now that it is settled—for I could not help being nervous—knowing as I do that he is coming there to die– I went home after going to Brook St & to Cav. Sqr to ask Blanche to let Mary Alderson pay her visit to London to her instead of to me– Onie was at home & said she wd arrange it. I had a visit from Mr Bishop the Director of the Venezia Murano Glass Co of Venice. He is an old gentleman. He wants me to help him to find an Italian to take the Direction in Venice. I told him I know of no one. I went to dine with the Rates. Met the Bp of Ripon & Mrs Boyd Carpenter & Mr & Mrs (Ida) Hoare & Mr Sydney Colvin. Mrs Rate was not very well so we all left early. Fanny—new housemaid came. | |
