8 May 1898 — 3 Savile Row | |
Sunday. 8th [May 1898]. I had arranged with Constance to meet her at Marlboro House Chapel Royal at 10 but I woke feeling rather unwell so I remained in bed for breakfast. Connie came to look for me & came up to my bedroom for a little while & then went to Church by herself. She returned to lunch with me at 1.30. After lunch she walked with me as far as Half Moon Street & I went & sat with Arthur a bit– He was in good humour. I was glad to think it was the last time I should see him in that poky dirty little room so dull & sunless—& the street so noisy– There is a dog next door whose barking has worried him ever since he has been ill and he rejoiced to think he has so nearly done with him. I returned home from his house & did not go out till dinner time when I walked up to Cav. Sqr & dined with the Duncannons. Met there Mr & Mrs D. Beresford Irish neighbours at Garry Hill. | |
