3 June 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 3rd June [1898]. Rhuvon came to breakfast with his father this morning. I spent half the morning turning out rubbish from cupboards downstairs. Monty’s valet made himself rather disagreeable about our having moved some of Monty’s things & vexed Monty. It upset me rather as I try to do all I can to please him & make him & his servant comfortable. Connie came to see me before luncheon. Arthur was not very bright today—but he came in to luncheon with us & eat a little. Nellie & I walked to Upper Baker Street to enquire about a maid attendant for Maria & heard of one likely to suit who is to come & see me tomorrow morning. We got home by 4. Rhuvon went out abt 11 & returned to tea. Mrs Jellico came & they played bésique under Arthur’s superintendence. Miss Oswell came & we worked before & after dinner at Henry’s MSS. Nellie dined out.
