5 June 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 5th [June 1898]. Trinity Sunday. I went to the German Chapel Royal service at 9.30. Home at 11 & found Mr Bond with Arthur & Rhuvon & he stayed to talk while they breakfasted. I showed him a book of photos: of Consple given me by the Sultan—& the inlaid mother o’pearl cabinet he gave me. Wrote letters. Rhuvon & I lunched with Arthur at 1.30. It was a hot sultry day. Sat in the patio & read. Nellie & I gave each other French dictée as we want to learn to write French correctly. Had tea in the patio. Sir Fred Burton came to see me. He looked old & shrunken & his hat seemed so big for his head. He was very kind & gentle. Rhuvon dined with me & we looked out for old books in the library. Nellie was out.
