12 June 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 12th [June 1898]. Kitty went off to the 9.30 service at the German Chapel Royal. I joined her at 10 oclock for the morning service. Connie was also there. Kate went on to Down St to join the Wimbornes at their church at 11. I came home & Connie joined me & sat talking for a short time. She was low about things in general & wanted to talk them over—but she went off again to the 12 o’cl service at the Chap. R. St James. Rhuvon went out for the day starting after breakfast. Arthur slept in the morning. Nellie & Kate both returned to luncheon. Arthur joined us & eat an excellent lunch—for the first time eating roast beef. I set to work to play patience after lunch, by his side & he watched me with interest till nearly 5 o’cl when he was wheeled to his own room for a short time. Mrs Jellico came & they played bésique. Kate & I had tea in the room downstairs. Mr Musgrave came to tea & asked to see Arthur who saw him for a short time & then we returned downstairs & he showed me a new patience & stayed till 4. When he left Kate & I ran off to Wimborne House & saw Cornelia. She gave us some lovely pinks to take to Arthur. Ivor was at church. They go to Ascot tomorrow for a week. Rhuvon dined with Nellie, Kate & me in the studio. It has been a very cold day & Arthur has been wonderfully well today. Rhuvon thinks he has been better today than he has been at all since he has been ill.
