30 June 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 30th [June 1898]. Very heavy weather. Arthur felt it a good deal & slept a good deal. I also felt very headachy. Nellie & I had our French lesson of Mlle Diamanti before lunch. Nellie & I lunched with Arthur & then he ordered me to lie down & rest so I went up to my own room & fell asleep on the sofa. At 4 I went downstairs & found Mildred & her husband Jack Mansel with Rhuvon waiting to see Arthur who was asleep. Jack went & sat with him a little while. Mrs Jellicoe came to tea– Arthur was very quiet & we did not remain long but left him with Mrs J. who sat reading while he dosed. At 6.30 I took a walk with the Chow dog Turk. Just up to 17 Cav. Sqr to see Blanche who was resting in her bedroom– Edward came in & we had a little chat abt Rosie Guest’s engagement &c—& then I walked home just in time for dinner & Arthur went to his room. Rhuvon & Nellie dined with me—& left at 10. I had a chat with Nurse Papworth & came to bed.
