6 July 1898 — Chenies | |
Wednesday. 6th July [1898]. Sat in the garden all morning working, reading & learning French poetry. Addie painted. Very hot day & lowering. At 4 Addie took me for a drive in her Victoria we went thro’ the Ebury’s park “Moor” & passed their stately mansion to Lady Morier’s little house at . She is the widow of Sir R Morier the diplomat. She was away from home & it looked so dark and threatening that we thought it prudent to return straight to Chenies. Had tea in the garden & took a turn among the roses with Addie. Abt 7.30 Louis Du Cane came to dine & sleep here & to transact some business with Addie he being her lawyer, which they did after dinner. | |
