14 August 1898 — Hatfield | |
Sunday. 14th [August 1898]. A very hot day indeed. Went to morning service with Nellie. Monty went out to some distant service & only returned for dinner in the evening & left before breakfast. Mr Horner breakfasted with Nellie & me & went away also till the evening. I shut up all the windows & shutters to try & keep the house cool. We sat quiet indoors Nellie & I till the 3 Cecil children came to tea with us. Abt 6 we took them into the gardens & walked there till their bed time when we returned home to dine– | |
