12 September 1898 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Monday. 12th [September 1898]. I went on with my picture copying. Rosie went away to London. Connie left for Cornwall. I accompanied her in the open carriage to the station at Broadstone & saw her into her train. Ivor was there on business & we drove back to Canford together. It was a lovely day but not too hot—rather autumnal. Miss Car Bernard came to luncheon & her sister Mea came after to continue her sketch. I painted till tea time when I joined Cornelia in the garden & we had tea near the magnolia border & then I took a walk in the garden with Cornelia. We were a very reduced party at dinner only Ivor, Cornelia & myself. Ivor & I played patience in the evening. Cornelia was hors de combat with headache–
