20 September 1898 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey
Tuesday. 20th [September 1898]. I went off to Devonshire by a 9.15 train & arrived there soon after 2 at Budleigh Salterton. Found Edgar was better & not keeping his bed—but sitting up in an armchair in his room. His paralyzed arm is much better & his spirits were not bad. I sat & chatted with him till 5 o’cl tea & then went out for a walk with Leo. It is a very pretty place—with one long straggling street & many villas. Sat with Edgar after dinner.
