11 November 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 11th [November 1898]. Worked with camera lucida all the morning. Mrs Eden called directly after lunch & asked me to go over to the garden to get myself some geranium plants out of the ground to pot & keep for next year—so we went & took old Pasquale with us & he brought away a fine lot of them. Walked abt with Carrie & Ct Contarini who was there. He is the last of the old Venetian family & has ruined himself by gambling & is now getting on in life & will probably never marry. Walked home from the Zattere—& saw in a small shop an old Nova vase, bargained & bought it for Augusta for 3fr 50– Mrs & Miss Graham came to tea—later Marchese Bentivoglio & then Mme Wiel—invited her to lunch tomorrow.
