1 December 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 1st December [1898]. It was a very dark morng but cleared in the afternoon. When I called at the Belmondos as I have been doing nearly every day I found him worse with a threatening of rheumatic fever so went there twice & took him some little comforts & food. I turned out 2 young men friends of his who were paying him a visit—& he ought to have been very quiet. Went to Piazza to find a pearl necklace for Blanche.
