3 December 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 3rd [December 1898]. A very hard morning’s work rearranging all Henry’s official papers, books, registers &c which I had only just finished by lunch time at 1.30. It was such a lovely day that we started off in gondola directly after lunch & rowed to the Lido—took a walk there & came back by 5—just stopping at the Bels. to see how he was. He is better but has still a little fever. Mrs Eden & Baron Krauss came to tea. I had an answer from Richard Du Cane today to my letter asking about the Loan. He thinks it advisable nothing shd be done by Ivor—so I suppose I must leave it–
