19 December 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 19th [December 1898]. I went to lunch with old Mrs Brown & her son Mr Horatio Brown—& then went to fetch Mrs Eden & we went shopping together for me to buy a small Ch: Tree & its shining gew gaws to take to Vescovana with me—to surprise the Css with on Christmas Eve. The Belmondos dined with me—& several people came in the evening—the pretty little Css Giustina Valmarana & her daughter—Olga Mocenigo, the Cozzi & Mr Montalba &c. | |
