1 February 1899 — Rome | |
Wednesday. 1st February [1899]. Took a walk in the morng to Pinchio & back—before 1 o’cl lunch. Lady Louisa Legge was up & came & sat in my sitting room between 1 & 2– At 2.30 I went for a walk as far as Villa Buoncompagni to call on Css Arduino who was not at home so I went to the Villino to see Mme Hurtado & Idita. While there was taken faint & ill to the fright of Idita. They took me in their carriage for a drive on Pincio but as it came on to rain they brought me back to the hotel & I rested & kept quiet. I dined at 7.30 at the same table as Baronne de Bülow & I paid a visit to Lady Louisa in her room—played patience & went to bed. | |
