2 March 1899 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Thursday. 2nd [March 1899]. I got my tea at 8—got up dressed & packed my bag to be ready for the evening start for Venice. Sat with the Countess in the morning she being in bed—& she got up for 12 o’cl lunch. At 3 we went for a walk in the garden a lovely bright spring day. The Lent lilies all coming out & masses of violets all over the garden. Then we sat & talked & talked again till dinner at 7 & at just before 9 & I got home soon after 11. Had tea & to bed. Much colder here than Rome.
