7 March 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 7th [March 1899]. Busy morning typing. Iduna Bel. came to lunch with me & then went away at 2.30. Typed till 3.30 & then out in gondola. Went to Piazza from there walked to Edens & found Carry up & better. Went back to Piazza & took my gondola & to Mme Wiel’s Palazzo Soranzo S. Polo where there was a tea party. Miss Carden, Count Sorranzo, the new chaplain, Mr Christie & his wife, Mr & Mrs Treherne, (Edens niece née Hammersley) & Countess Tiepolo & her daughter. I returned home abt 5 & typed till dinner.
