11 March 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 11th [March 1899]. Weather still rainy but better. Typed. Went out in gondola. The Belmondos came to tea & Ct Grimani the Sindaco, & he spoke about my gondola but seemed to take it as a joke & tho’ he offered to have a special enquiry about it he spoke in such a way that I saw it is hopeless & I let the matter drop– Mme Noce came to tea also. Wrote letters in evening. | |
