16 April 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 16th [April 1899]. Went to morning service at our church—then went to walk on the Piazza with the Vivian family. It was a lovely morning & tho very hot & seemed to promise fine weather for the future but in the afternoon it changed. Just as we were going out after lunch Mr & Mrs Holman Hunt & their son called so I begged them to return tomorrow morning which they promised to do. The weather threatened a storm & we had to go out in a shut gondola, Louie & I. We came in at 5 to tea & then went to evening service at 5.30. Dined at 8 & the Vivian party left for Brussels by 11.25 train. I went to bed. They arrive at Milan in the morng & at Brussels on Tuesday morning.
