6 May 1899 — 3 Savile Row | |
Saturday. 6th [May 1899]. Walked out in the morng to order some glass for the dinner table. Nellie returned home to lunch as her bonnet shop closes early today. We walked together to Montague Place Bedford Sqr to enquire for Fannie Browning. I found she had started for Venice & was to meet her husband at Verona. Also that he telegraphed to her not to bring out an English maid with her but that she had done so– He said there was no room for her at Asolo & Fanny says that in that case she will remain on in Venice & not go to Asolo & does not intend to receive the Exmodel Ginevra at all. It makes me a bit anxious for the success of the reconciliation. We walked on to Marias—Nellie left me. I went in & had tea with Maria. Found Ruth is ill in bed with a bad throat. Daisy walked back here with me to this door. Blanche & Edward dined with me & we had an endless discussion about the Rhuvon Merthyr loan suit wh Edward still thinks ought to be avoided. It worried me & gave me a bad night. There seem to be nothing but worries on all sides! | |
