29 May 1899 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Monday. 29th [May 1899]. A fine warm day. Walked in the garden with Francie. Went to the churchyard & arranged with the sexton to take care of Henry’s grave. Lunched at 1 & left Canford by 1.45 train from Wimborne. Cornelia & Elaine left at the same time to go for a short time to a house at Hampstead Cornelia has taken for a month whence she intends going up & down to town to work the “Ladies League for the Defence of the Reformed faith of the Church of England” a matter she has taken in hand very hotly much to the disapproval of many of her friends. I came straight home & had tea at 5.30. Nellie came home later & we dined together. Monty is away.
