16 October 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 16th [October 1899]. It was a wet dull morning. The Curtis were going to take Sophy out in the morning & did not come. She went to lunch with Mrs Brown & her son Horatio. May Waldegrave lunched with me & went after to fetch Sophy. I did not go out. They came in to tea at 5 in my bedroom. In the evening I had my usual reception, but few people came—only Iduna & Count Belmondo, Prof. Trombini & Mr Woods R.A. | |
