Friday. 27th [October 1899]. Sophy & I went off on foot to the Academy just to have a look round together at our favorite pictures. When we got home my little luncheon party had already assembled viz Mr & Mrs Christie, Miss Pearl & Mr Hugh Lane (Lady Gregory’s nephew) a young picture dealer—& Signor Saccardo, Engineer & Architect to the Ch: of St Mark’s. I had made his acquaintance at Vescovana & he was anxious to make Sophy’s acquaintance & also to see my pictures. He was very pleasant & we arranged a party to see the Treasury of S. Mark’s with him tomorrow led by Sr Saccardo. | |
