9 November 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 9th [November 1899]. Sat reading & working while Fannie showed the house to some Americans. Lunched at 12.30. I went in gondola at 3 to the Edens garden & Carry cut me a large bundle of chrysanthemums of which there are now masses growing & as yet there has been no frost to spoil them. At 4.30 I was back at the Rezzonico to join Fanny & we went together to have tea with Mme Noce. Met there Css Olga Mocenigo & Idita Bentivoglio– Returned to Pal. Rezzonico & dined with Fannie & then at 9.30 she took me in her gondola to my own house & I was glad to be at home again. The upper floor is ready & the piano nobile will be ready Saturday.
