11 November 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 11th November [1899]. I had a very busy morning turning out a lumber room. It was a melancholy work—there were things we had used in old days in our Christmas revels & for our balls & cottillions. It was like digging in a churchyard. It is a good thing done & clears away much useless rubbish. Olga Mocenigo came to lunch upstairs in the studio & then we sat in the library talking till past 3 after wh I took her in gondola to the Piazza where I left her & hastened home to welcome the Dyers who came to tea with me in the studio. I dined at 8 & wrote letters in the library afterwards.
