7 December 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 7th [December 1899]. It was very cold & windy but I went off to have my sitting of Ellen Montalba—& home to lunch at 1. Afterwards Carry Eden called for me & we went to an antiquity shop in search of furniture for my niece Rosie Ridley & for my sister Blanche. We found it so bitterly cold especially in the big rooms where the antiquari live that we were glad to get home. Mr Woods (RA) came to tea with me & sat a long time chatting very pleasantly. | |
