11 December 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 11th [December 1899]. A very windy cold bright day. I had a headache & stayed in bed all day till 4. I was to have gone out with Carry Eden but wrote to put her off & she came in to see me for a few minutes in afternoon. I dined downstairs. In evening only Mr Woods, Dr Van Someren, Count Rucellai & Iduna Belmondo came. The cold was so great that I expect no one cared to go out at night.
