13 December 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 13th [December 1899]. Fine & cold today but a lot of snow lying about. I copied a picture in water colour. After lunch went out in gondola to get a packet wh has been some days at the P. Office but wh the authorities refused to give unless I went in person to fetch it. It turned out to be a little silver salt castor I sent for to give the Empress Fred. I went to call on the Christies & they were out so I went to the Piazza on a commission & found heaps of snow piled up there & it was bitterly cold so I hurried home. Mr & Mrs Christie came to tea. I played the harmonium in eveng.
