Thursday. 21st [December 1899]. I sent Jane the cook, Ada kitchenmaid, Wilfred footman off to England by 2 o’cl train. Calisto who leaves my service today accompanied them. I went to lunch with the Curtis at Palazzo Barbaro leaving Fannie B at home– Returned at 3 & took her out with me– It was cold snowy & horrid weather. I dined with the Edens at Pal: Barbarigo & met there Mr & Mrs Christie & Mr Williamson (the expriest). It blew hard on the way to dinner & Mrs Christie was rather alarmed, but when we left it was calmer. | |
