22 December 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 22nd [December 1899]. We each, Fannie & I breakfasted in our rooms. Then I proceeded to have the bed taken down & arranged the bedroom next Fannie’s as a sitting room & there we lunched & dined. Regina cooked for us & Pasquale waited on us. At 2 Mr Williamson came to see me & I showed him round the pictures. After lunch I & Fannie went to the Sailor’s Institute & found that Kitty Newman the caretaker’s daughter is ill with typhoid the result of eating oysters. Then we shopped & returned home to tea– After dinner the Belmondos came & Prof: Trombini to pay us a visit.
