8 January 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 8th January [1900]. Fannie & I went out together to the Piazza in gondola & I ordered my railway tickets at Cook & Sons for tomorrow’s journey & did other commissions. Mrs Eden came to call just after lunch & we went out all three together & called at old Gavaguin & gave orders about packing & sending off the old furniture I have bought for Ivor’s daughter Rosie Ridley & then on Canareggio where we all got out & walked. Fannie went to see a friend & Carry & I walked to the former’s house for a little exercise. There the gondola met me & brought me home. Several people came to tea—viz Mrs Hulton, Mr Woods, Countess Papadopoli, Ct & Css Belmondo, Mr Montalba & Clara & Rev. Mr Douglas. Fanny & I went to dine with Mr & Mrs Curtis at 7.30 quite quietly & came home at 10.
